Dr. Lori Lind

“Radiant in voice and striking in stage presence” (The Washington Post), Verdi Soprano Lori Lind has performed opera and concert throughout the United States and the world.

Her reviews by prominent critics have been nothing short of stellar. Of her performance at the Annapolis Opera,  the Baltimore Sun wrote: "Ms. Lind's astonishing vocal gifts are enhanced by her vivacity and youthful beauty.  [She] offered an exquisite 'D'amor sull'ali rosee' from Verdi's Il Trovatore in her magnificent soprano and a  compelling 'Depuis le jour' from Charpentier's Louise that was richly colored and filled with feeling." The  Houston Chronicle praised her opening night gala performance unreservedly, stating: "As  Gilda, Tosca and Aida, soprano Lori Lind moved agilely among the disparate musical styles. She had the  steely power and riveting high notes to etch strong characterizations of all three women. Her portrayals  galvanized the show." 

Classical Voice of North Carolina raved: “From the moment Lind appeared on  stage, she showed herself a superb singer whose thrilling high notes, dazzling coloratura passages, and  seamless legato met all one's expectations. As singer and consummate actress, she commands the stage.”  

The Raleigh News-Observer lauds: “Violetta, the flirtatious courtesan, makes extreme demands on the lead  soprano. She received countless accolades from prestigious sources, including first place wins at The Annapolis Opera Vocal Competition and Licia Albanese-Puccini Competition, and top grants and awards from The Gerda Lissner Foundation, Schuyler Foundation for Career Bridges, Violetta DuPont Foundation, Liederkranz Foundation, Jenny Lind Foundation, Shubert Theater Awards, and The Richard Tucker Foundation.

She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy at The Catholic University of America, and the Master of Music in the same disciplines from The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, where she later taught voice for more than ten years. In 2015, with a desire to give back to her community, she founded Shakespeare Opera Theatre, where she remains Artistic Director.

A master vocal technician, her high school students have attended Virginia State Governor’s School, been awarded first place in their voice categories for Maryland and Virginia All State and Senior Honors Choir, and have earned scholarships to Peabody Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Westminster Choir College, Cincinnati Conservatory, Oberlin College, The Hartt School, Rice University, The Julliard School, University of Maryland Opera Studio, George Mason University School of Music, Shenandoah Conservatory, Christopher Newport University, Elon College, and North Carolina School for the Arts. Her adult students have performed with chorales, ensembles, and opera companies throughout the US, including Houston Grand Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Wolf Trap Opera & The Metropolitan Opera. Her child singers have performed with The American Boy Choir, New Jersey Boy Choir, on television, in film, and on the professional stage.
